A LOYAL Children in Need fundraiser was supported by the Romsey community to host her dream fashion show, raising thousands for the BBC charity.

Despite facing challenges with cerebral palsy and learning difficulties Amy Wright, from West Wellow, has been working for Pudsey since the age of five.

Since winning the ‘Sir Terry Wogan Children in Need fundraiser of the year’ in 2021, live on the BBC, Amy wanted to host her biggest-ever charity event with a fashion show at Romsey Bradbeers to capitalise on her fundraising fame.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Singer and radio host Michael Ball, who presented the 37-year-old with her award last year, made a video to help kickstart the show at the department store in Bell Street.

Male and female models aged from two to 90 years old, strutted down the catwalk on Friday, November 4 wearing outfits from Bradbeers, Kit & Caboodle, and Romsey Bridal Boutique, with nearly £3000 being raised.

In the interval, Rock Choir took centre stage with a performance led by Charlotte Jones in addition to a raffle.

Amy’s Mum Helen Wright said: “They say it takes a village to raise a child, well it takes a town to put on a fashion show, and what a town Romsey is. Preparations started in June, but it was worth it, as it was a very successful and fun evening.

“Everyone from Viv Russell (the choreographer) and Joanna Fitzgerald-Gradwell (who did staging) and their teams, to the tombola posse, worked hard to make the evening a success. Local businesses were very generous with their donations of prizes."

The fundraising push culminated on Friday, November 25 when the staff at Kimbridge Barn dressed in Pudsey gear and donated their tips of more than £200 to Amy’s efforts.

This year’s total from the Children in Need award winner currently stands at £3,837. Amy said: “This year has been fantastic, and I’m very, very happy with the money raised but I want to get to £4,000. If anyone hasn’t donated yet, it isn’t too late.”
