A DEVELOPER, currently preparing a major scheme for South Winchester Golf Club, has released a new image of what a lido on the site could look like.

Bloor Homes unveiled the image ahead of the latest in its series of webinars on Manor Parks.

The developer released a masterplan for Manor Parks last July which includes a park and ride, a primary school, a tennis facility, and a large country park.

The Manor Parks masterplan shows there will be around 1,000 homes and that half the site will be retained as green space.

Speaking at a previous webinar, James Matcham, strategic land director at Bloor Homes, said that an outdoor swimming pool could be included.

At its next online webinar on Thursday, February 22 at 7pm, the developer will discuss the scheme's plans for sport and leisure facilities.

The speakers will be: Sophie Curthoys, Lawn Tennis Association property team, and Will Gardner, director of The Environmental Dimension Partnership.

Sophie will be explaining the importance of participating in sport, as well as discussing what the LTA is doing at a national level to promote active, healthy lifestyles and support community sport facilities.

Will’s presentation will cover the proposals for green spaces at Manor Parks, and how they are being designed to encourage new and existing residents to enjoy nature and the outdoors.

Mr Matcham said: “We are in a unique position of being able to deliver much-needed new community sport facilities for Winchester as part of our Manor Parks development, whilst maintaining more than half of the site as open space.

“No final decisions have yet been made, and the Winchester Sport and Leisure Survey, launched in December 2023, is still live and accepting responses. We want to work with the people of Winchester to understand what the gaps are in the city’s sporting and leisure facilities, with an aim to provide new facilities to fill that gap. That is why we really want to encourage as many people in Winchester as possible to answer our survey, so that we can understand what is needed as we develop our plans for Manor Parks.

“I look forward to explaining our plans and answering your questions at the webinar on February 22.”
