ANOTHER Hampshire gritter has spun off an icy road this week.

Hampshire County Council confirmed that the driver wasn't hurt and that no other vehicles were involved.

The gritter lost control on Fareham Road near Hambledon on January 23. This comes after another gritter came off the road on January 17 on Trampers Lane near Wickham.

A tweet from Hampshire Highways said: "Our gritter was out salting a priority one route, came across a patch of ice and was unable to keep control. Our teams are working hard around the clock to make the roads safer for highway users.

"We can confirm that they suffered no injuries, and the driver was working again in the same gritter two nights later. The incident happened on Fareham Road near Hambledon."

A spokesman for Hampshire County Council said: “One of our gritters slid off the road near Hambledon while spreading salt on one of our higher priority routes. No other vehicles were involved but the lorry did suffer some superficial damage. Thankfully, the driver was unhurt. The vehicle was quickly recovered, and a replacement vehicle was deployed to continue salting that part of the road network.”
