HUNDREDS of Santas have descended on Winchester for a popular annual fun run.

The Santa Fun Run 5k event returned for the 14th year, and saw hundreds of runners dressed like Father Christmas take to the streets of Winchester to raise money for the hospices Naomi House and Jackspace.

The yuletide dash kicked off at 9am on Sunday, December 4, and saw runners take off from the start line on The Broadway on a 5k run that took them past a number of Winchester’s famous landmarks, such as the King Alfred Statue and Winchester Catherdral.

The runners finished the course outside The Guildhall, where a flurry of snow greeted them as they crossed the finish line.

Speaking before the event, senior events fundraiser Charlotte Patrick said: “We are extremely excited that our Santa Fun Run is returning to Winchester, it is our jolliest event of the year with hundreds of Santa’s running the streets.

“The fundraising efforts from the runners have been amazing.

“This will make a difference to the children, young adults and their families here at Naomi House and Jacksplace.”
