A POPULAR event, that’s been running for 14 years, is returning this weekend with hundreds of people running dressed as Father Christmas.

Naomi House and Jacksplace, a hospice charity for children and young adults, is preparing for its annual Santa Fun Run 5k event on Sunday, December 4.

Hundreds of Santas will take to the streets of Winchester in a yuletide dash for all abilities and ages.

Dressed as Father Christmas, the runners will begin with a festive warm-up at 8.55am, before beginning the city route and travelling past a number of Winchester attractions such as the King Alfred Statue and the cathedral. The race finishes in a flurry of snow outside the Guildhall.

Senior events fundraiser, Charlotte Patrick, said: “We are extremely excited that our Santa Fun Run is returning to Winchester, it is our jolliest event of the year with hundreds of Santa’s running the streets. The fundraising efforts from the runners have been amazing. This will make a difference to the children, young adults and their families here at Naomi House & Jacksplace.”
