A SHELL has been found in a garage in a residential street in Winchester.
Police set up a cordon around the property in Stoney Lane, Weeke, after the discovery was made at 3pm on Tuesday, July 19.
The alert was raised after the eight inch long brown device was found when the property's garage was being cleared.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said that the bomb squad was called at 4.25pm to take the device away.
They added: "The bomb squad are on their way but it is not thought that the device could cause harm or be a danger to anyone, but we have taken the necessary precautions."
