A PEDESTRIAN crossing is set to be constructed in Otterbourne, starting on Monday July 18, disrupting local traffic.

Hampshire County Council will build the Zebra Crossing opposite Nisa Local on Main Road.

The work is scheduled to start on Monday July 18 and is expected to last until August 5, with work between 9.30am-4pm from Monday to Friday until completion.

To maximise safety, a three-way traffic lights system will be in place, meaning delays between Winchester and Eastleigh/Chandlers Ford via Otterbourne should be expected.

The county council aims to “improve pedestrian safety on Main Road, Otterbourne” by relocating “the existing crossing point on Main Road, Otterbourne north of its current location and to convert it to a zebra crossing point”.

The council has appointed Rocon Contractors and this project will coincide with resurfacing of the carriageway.

For further query or comments the council is contactable at implementation@hants.gov.uk.
