WINCHESTER Cathedral was transformed with bunting and decorations on Sunday for a ‘majestic’ service of thanksgiving and celebration to mark the Platinum Jubilee.
Scores of guests, including a wealth of city dignitaries, gathered for the occasion. They were treated to music, messages from the Commonwealth and an uplifting poem named ‘Holi in Ruislip’, which was read by Dr Nazneen Ahmed Pathak. The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson, also spoke.
Banners clad with images of her royal highness throughout here reign were paraded through the cathedral.

As the service drew to an end, everyone was warmly invited to stay for a quintessentially British cup of tea and a slice of cake.
For those unable to attend, the full service was streamed online.
The Platinum Jubilee marks 70 years of a monarch’s reign and Queen Elizabeth II will be the first British monarch to reach this impressive milestone.
