First, congratulations to Martin Tod becoming leader of Winchester City Council, and especially to the changes he has made to the cabal/cabinet - much needed. Perhaps now there can be real progress with developing Silver Hill.

The construction of a rather ugly paling fence at the entrance to Kings Walk is not really progress. May I suggest the proposed 'temporary' changes to Kings Walk be stopped. Leave it alone, and wait until the whole development of the area is proposed. It is acceptable as it is, and no doubt will be radically changed in the development, so why waste more money on temporary measures. Also the idea of developing more performance space there to attract young people is possibly not very sound. Young people come here to university, and then most likely will return home when they finish their studies. A bit of performance space will not keep them in Winchester - try building some less expensive housing instead.

Progress hopefully can be made on demolishing the old Friarsgate Medical Centre - planning permission for the demolition should be completed by now. Then get on and restore the Lower Brook in conjunction with the Wildlife Trust - not a very great expense, and great for the environment - and put in a simple walkway to connect up to the Broadway.

Perhaps we can look forward to some real progress now with the new Council...
