THE family of a man who died after his car crashed on the A34 have paid tribute to the “true friend of many all over the world”.

Raymond Alan Sparkes, 61, was driving a black Peugeot 3008 when he crashed near to the A303 slip road at Bullington Cross on December 24, colliding with a road barrier and a sign.

Police were called at around 6.10pm, but Mr Sparkes, of Nottingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today (Friday), Mr Sparkes’ family have paid tribute to him. They said: “Ray was an adored husband, father and father-in-law, and a true friend of many all over the world. Ray will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. As a family we have some amazing memories and Ray will never ever be forgotten.”

Following the fatal crash, officers investigating are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “If you have witnessed the accident or if you have dash cam footage showing the collision or the moments beforehand, contact police on 101 or report online, quoting reference number 44210514505.”
