THE man who died after the car he was driving collided with a road barrier and a sign on the A34 has been named, as an inquest has opened into his death.
Raymond Alan Sparkes, 61, was driving a black Peugeot 3008 when he crashed near to the A303 slip road at Bullington Cross on December 24.
Police were called at around 6.10pm and Mr Sparkes, of Nottingham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An inquest has now been opened into his death by area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp at Winchester Coroner’s Court.
A post mortem carried out by pathologist Dr Balvinder Shoker gave a cause of death as multiple injuries following a road traffic collision.
Ms Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on July 25.
Following the fatal crash, officers investigating are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: “If you have witnessed the accident or if you have dash cam footage showing the collision or the moments beforehand, contact police on 101 or report online, quoting reference number 44210514505.”
