GILLINGHAM have released news this afternoon that 22-year-old centre-back Callum Davies has joined Eastleigh on a month’s loan.

The 6ft 1in defender has featured in the League One club’s development league matches this season and is looking to get some regular games under his belt to force his way back into the first-team picture at the Priestfield Stadium.

He has signed for Eastleigh in time to feature in this evening’s (7.45pm) National League showdown at home to Dover Athletic – a club he has previously played for on loan.

Davies has made 39 appearances for Gillingham, the last of which was against Scunthorpe in 2014/15.

Eastleigh are in urgent need of central defensive cover. Skipper Paul Reid is out long-term with an infected leg wound and hairline fracture, while Jamie Turley is touch and go tonight after taking a bang on an existing shin injury at Chester on Saturday.
