Craig Stanley has become Eastleigh’s fourth signing of the summer.

The 31-year-old arrives at the Silverlake Stadium on a free transfer following his departure from Aldershot Town at the end of last season.

The Leeds-born centre midfielder is a veteran of the football league and non-league divisions and has played for Morecambe, Bristol Rovers, Torquay and Hereford United among other clubs.

The Conference Premier new boys have already added former Oxford United strikers James Constable and Jack Midson to their ranks as well as defender Paul Reid, formerly of Northampton Town.

Stanley made 46 apperances for the Shots last season and captained the side as they finished 19th in the Conference Premier.

The former England C international failed to agree terms of a new contract with Aldershot and left last month.

He arrived at The Electrical Services Stadium in the summer of 2012 from Rovers but missed most of his first season due to a broken leg.

Last August he was appointed captain and departed after playing 53 games.

At the time he took to social media site, Twitter, to announce his exit.

He said: "With much sadness I won't be renewing my contract with Aldershot.

"I would have had to take a substantial pay cut and I can't afford to do that.

"So I'd like to thank everyone at Aldershot the staff and the fans for the two years I was there and to be captain of the team was one of my best moments in my career.

"Time to look for a new team and new chapter."

The midfield man began his career with Walsall before moving to Hereford United in 2004. He became a key member of the side that clinched promotion to the football league after play-off victories over Morecambe and Halifax Town in 2005/06.

He then won promotion again the following season he was part of the Morecambe team that gained promotion to the Football League, winning 2-1 against Exeter in the play-off final.

Stanley made 170 appearances for Morecambe in League Two before joining Torquay United, Bristol Rovers and then Aldershot.

He tweeted on arrival at Eastleigh:
