EASTLEIGH’S home game against Dover Athletic fell foul of waterlogged surface at the Silverlake Stadium tonight, but it was still an eventful evening for Richard Hill’s men who learned the identity of their FA Trophy quarter-final visitors – and toasted a rare defeat for their Conference South title rivals Bromley.

The Spitfires now know that it will be Cambridge United visiting them in the last eight of the Trophy on Saturday, February 1.

After being held 2-2 at home by Conference Premier title rivals Luton Town on Saturday, the Us edged the Kenilworth Road replay 1-0 thanks to a 39th-minute deflected strike by former Leicester City and York marksman Ashley Chambers.

The real shock of the night, however, came at Hayes Lane where table-topping Bromley were shot down 2-1 by Conference South new boys Concord Rangers.

Sam Higgins was the Beachboys’ hero, striking twice after Rob Swaine had put Bromley in front.

Hill and his Eastleigh men – who home to Gosport Borough on Saturday - still trail Mark Goldberg’s league leaders by 11 points, but they now have four games in hand.
