NEW measures to crack down on dog fouling are being taken in Colden Common.
Animal welfare officers have been monitoring hotspots in Colden Common Park at the end of Boyes Lane to identify areas of “significant fouling”.
Signs are being erected to encourage dog owners to pick up after their dogs.
Winchester City Council’s environmental health manager, Abigail Toms, said: “These signs will be left in place for approximately a month and the animal welfare officer will be returning on a weekly basis, as time allows, to monitor whether there have been any improvements.
“We have suspicions about one of the culprits who we have already spoken to, but if you have any firm evidence as to whom any of the culprits are, it would be appreciated if you could let us know. We are hoping that this action will lead to an improvement to the environment.”
