CYCLISTS are due to set off from a starting point in Owslebury in a race commemorating a former Southampton University student. James Atherton, a PhD student, was part of a group of five cyclists when he suddenly veered into the front of a Volkswagen Golf travelling the other way on a narrow New Forest lane in January last year.

A SPECIALIST exhibition commemorating World War One is to take place in Owslebury during the summer. On Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22, the Owslebury Parish Council will host an exhibition featuring photographs, diaries, articles and artefacts provided by local residents.

RESIDENTS in Colden Common are being asked to take part in an event to mark the anniversaries of both world wars. Similar to previous sing-alongs such as the Hampshire Sings event, Pack Up Your Troubles aims to mark the anniversary of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

RESIDENTS will be able to enjoy a spot of classical music when the Twyford Singers concert takes place this weekend. At St Cross Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 9, a rendition of the popular works of Vivaldi and Fauré aims to raise money for Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group (SWVG), which befriends and supports asylum seekers and refugees in the Southampton and Winchester areas. KINGS Worthy Parish Council is currently seeking tenders for resurfacing at the Eversley Park car park. The car park, which often becomes crowded during Saturday mornings, is challenging to negotiate at busy times and since the introduction of the path across the park it is being used more frequently by parents taking children to school.
