First event of lecture series raises £2,000
ORGANISERS behind the Martyr Worthy lecture series have praised the first event a success after raising more than £2,000.
The talk, by Douglas Skeggs, discussed ‘A History of the Medici: Bankrolling the Renaissance’.
The cash will be split between the four churches in the Itchen Valley parish, and the next event is on January 30 with Dr John Davies, entitled ‘The Jewels in the Crown – the Hidden Manor Houses of England’.
