EXPERTS from a Hampshire IT firm have taken a leaf from The Proclaimers’ book and walked 500 miles.

Staff from Taylor Made Computer Solutions have clocked the impressive mileage over the last three months in training for their Three Peaks Challenge in September. Then, around 20 employees will pull on their walking boots and climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just one day.

They hope the feat will raise £15,000 for Wessex Cancer Trust.

The team has been training hard since April, running together from the company’s HQ in Cams Hall Estate every Wednesday and embarking on longer walks at weekends.

They expect to add another 500 miles to their training total over coming months, with training expeditions planned on the South Coast and in the Brecon Beacons.

Team leader Joe Jeffers said: “We all know that preparation is key when it comes to IT projects so we’ve been applying the same logic to our Three Peaks Challenge. We’re a pretty close team as it is but the training has brought us even closer together, which is nice. We’re already feeling much fitter and can’t wait to see how quickly we can complete the challenge in September.”
