FORMER AFC Bournemouth record-breaker James Hayter has signed for National League South outfit Havant & Waterlooville.

The 36-year-old Isle of Wight-born hitman famously wrote his name into the Dean Court record books in February 2004 when he scored the fastest ever Football League hat-trick in 140 seconds after going on as a substitute against Wrexham.

Hayter, who went on to play for Doncaster Rovers and Yeovil Town, has made more than 600 Football League appearances and scored over 150 League goals.

During three years at Yeovil, he netted 29 goals in 137 appearances and was one of 13 players released by the Glovers’ ex-Saints boss Paul Sturrock this summer.

Hayter, who will be managed by his ex-Cherries teammate Lee Bradbury at Havant, is one of three new strike arrivals at Westleigh Park. The Hawks have already signed ex-Saint Matt Paterson from Gosport Borough and Marvin Morgan from Plymouth Argyle.
