TOTTON & Eling rounded off a promising week with a 1-1 home draw against Brockenhurst.

Bouyed by their shock midweek humbling of Winchester City, the bottom-of-the-table Millers took a 12th-minute lead through experienced frontman Chris Marwood.

But Jamie Betteridge, brought into Brock’s starting line-up in place of the unavailable Martin Warren, replied around the half-hour mark to secure the Badgers a share of the Sydenhams Premier spoils.

T&E’s co-boss and chairman Andy Tipp felt the Millers – and 42-year-old ex-Saint Jo Tessem in particular - were unlucky not to get more.

He said: “Jo could have had a perfect hat-trick, but he hit the bar, the post and all sorts.

“Had we gone 2-0 up that would probably have put a different slant on it, but once Brock had equalised it always looked like ending in a draw – apart from when Jo hit the post again!

“Chris Marwood’s played once before for us this season and scored two against Follands. He’s a quality player and we’d love him to play every week, but he can’t. He’s got a baby and he’s busy as a PE teacher at Kings’ School.

“It’s for those sort of reasons that we can’t keep a consistent side.”
