CO-BOSS Andy Tipp hopes Totton & Eling can get their tired limbs moving at home to Brockenhurst tomorrow and pick up where they triumphantly left off on Tuesday night.

Some of the Millers “are not as young as they used to be”, but that did not stop the Sydenhams Premier basement boys inflicting a shock 1-0 defeat on pre-season title favourites Winchester City – T&E’s first league win in ten months.

Steve Jenkin, whose late strike sealed the unlikely victory, is one of several long-serving players back to help the club in their hour of need and Tipp, who doubles up as chairman, appreciates their efforts.

“We know what lads like Steve Jenkin, Steve Marwood and Adam Lowther have got and, hopefully, they’ll all be fit and raring to go again tomorrow,” he said.

“They’re not as young as they used to be and they really did put themselves on the line against Winchester. They’ll have been aching the next day, that’s for sure!

“We knew what they could do and it was just a case of whether they could still do it.

“With their extra steel we’ve got a side that can compete now and Tuesday’s result puts the message round that things aren’t that bad here.

“That win’s been a long time coming but, to be honest, we were very unlucky not to get something at Lymington last Saturday (a 1-0 defeat).

“We lost to a scuffed goal in the first minute and the rest of the game was all us, we just couldn’t find the finish. Our performances are a lot better now.”

Although eighth-placed Brock beat a young T&E side 6-3 at Grigg Lane in August, it was far from plain sailing for Pat McManus’s men who, at one point, were being held 2-2.

With regular No1 Sam Cousins out for health reasons, the Badgers will keep Poole Town’s Brazilian stopper ‘Vinny’ Marques de Salve until the end of the season.

Brock have yet to drop a point in 2015 since Marques de Salve came into the side.

The same goes for targetman Martin Warren, but he won’t be around much this month due to work and holiday.
