MORE than 50 acts from national names to local upstarts have joined the bill of a leading Hampshire music festival.

Blissfields Festival will welcome critically acclaimed hip-hop artist Ghostpoet alongside dozens of smaller bands and DJs announced on Wednesday.

London-born Ghostpoet, right, is the best-known name to join the bill at Vicarage Farm, near Winchester, on July 2-4. The left-field electronic producer earned widespread acclaim last month for his dark third album Shedding Skin.

Also in Wednesday’s cohort are rising folkster Rhodes, former X Factor contestant Karen Harding, French DJ duo Tambour Battant and Blissfields favourite Beans on Toast.

They join previously announced headliners John Grant, The Horrors and Simian Mobile Disco.

Other additions include Red Kites, Kassassin Street, Sean McGowan, Plastic Mermaids, Madam X, Junk and The Boy I Used To Know.

The festival’s smaller stages have been filled with young acts from around Hampshire, including Owslebury-based DJ Polyblank and Winchester busker Sam Brothers, whose new LP is due later this year.

Legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash will also be appearing, alongside Public Service Broadcasting, Glass Animals and The Correspondents.
