CROWDS will be going b-b-b-b-bonkers tonight when one of the country’s best-loved rappers takes to the stage at a Hampshire music festival.

London rapper Dizzee Rascal will be setting the stage alight at Southsea’s Victorious Festival at the same time as the video for his latest single is released.

Tomorrow night American blues guitarist Seasick Steve will close the two-day festival, which organisers expect will see 90,000 people turn up for.

The hobo from California will be strumming his one-string guitar, his Diddly Bo, and is one of more than 100 acts performing, with the majority of those coming from Hampshire.

Last year saw 45,000 people head to the festival when it was held at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard to see Charlotte Church, Maximo Park and The Cribs perform.

Families can look forward to a free children’s arena with entertainment, face painting, a laser game, Punch and Judy and cake decorating.

Dads can be left at the crèche of the beer festival at The Pyramids Centre and families can use the pools for free.

Skateboarders and BMX riders can practise their moves at Southsea Skatepark, while a silent disco will accommodate up to 3,000 revellers dancing around to music on headphones.

The Southsea Alternative Choir is one of scores of local acts which will also take to the stage this year.

Singer–songwriter Tom Odell, from Chichester, will be performing songs from his latest album when he goes on to the Seaside Stage tonight.

Indie rockers Razorlight will be reliving their glory years on stage while the Pigeon Detectives will also be playing their hits.

For those of us with longer memories, Ocean Colour Scene will be performing their only English summer festival gig on Sunday.

Shed Seven will also be bringing back the glory years of Brit Pop when Cool Britannia ruled the airwaves.

Scouting For Girls and Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be raising the flag for pop today too.
