Young golfers from Hampshire have been named in England Golf’s regional squads.

The selections are part of the organisation’s 2025/26 Regional Coaching Programme, which serves as a key pathway for developing players who show potential to progress from county level to the national stage.

The programme is designed to prepare young golfers for competition at both national and international levels.

In the South Boys Squad, Hampshire is represented by Alfie Batten (Stoneham, 15), Albie Beeston (North Hants, 16), Max Blake (Corhampton, 15), Frederick Gill (Stoneham, 16), and Oliver Smith (Stoneham, 17).

On the girls’ side, three Hampshire players have been selected: Maryam Kassim (Liphook, 14), Georgia Richardson (Stoneham, 14), and Rosie Rooney (Alresford, 18).

Steve Burnett, deputy performance director at England Golf, said: "England Golf aims to support a strong, aligned and inclusive performance pathway from club to national level, in order to identify, recruit, develop, support and retain world-class golfers capable of performing and winning at the highest levels of amateur golf.

"The Regional Performance Programme is a vital part of the pathway and it bridges the gap for young players showing promise at county level to push on and improve sufficiently to go on and play for England in the near future.

"The regional squads have helped produce a large number of world-class male and female golfers while creating life-long affiliations with the game.

"At every level of the pathway we aim to provide fun, engaging and individualised opportunities to help the player as a person and a golfer."

The South Regional Coaching Team includes girls' coach Alex Saary, girls' manager Nick Woad, boys' coach Kevin Flynn, boys' manager Steve Wilson, and strength and conditioning specialist Simon Brearley.
