On Monday June 24, the Year 5 and 6 girls from Western C of E Primary School made history for their Winchester school.
Having battled all season (and despite the heat), the girls proudly came home with the North Eastleigh and Winchester Girls' Football League Cup, winning against their cup rivals, Knightwood Primary School in Chandler's Ford.
An early goal in the first half got Western off to a good start and set the tone for the match. However, Knightwood soon fought back making it 1-1.
With tension building in the second half, Western scored three more goals, making it a scorching 4-1 win, securing their cup victory.
When asked how she was feeling, proud coach and Year 6 teacher Sarah Horton beamed: "Well done girls, we're so proud of you!"
