The two-match winning honeymoon is over for Kelvin Davis, who watched his new Eastleigh charges lose 2-1 to Oldham Athletic in midweek.
Confidence was high in the Spitfires camp after back-to-back wins over Oxford United and high riding Bromley.
But Eastleigh came down with a bump as a goal brace by journeyman striker Joe Garner gave the Latics all three points.
Enzio Boldewijn responded for Eastleigh but with Nigel Atangana sin binned for two bookable offences - he will miss Saturday's visit of Solihull Moors to the Silverlake Stadium - salvaging the game proved too much for Spitfires' ten men.
