Romsey Town Youth's under 9 Tigers played Littleton Juniors Youth Rockets this weekend in a league game.

Having played each other twice before, they knew it would be a well-matched, fast-paced battle.
Littleton started strong and dominated the first quarter, but the Tigers found their feet in the second and scored three goals of their own, with the opener from Ollie and then two from Teddy, including a free kick that hit the post and took a deflection before going in.

The second half was a tense battle with both teams pressing hard and playing well. To add to the tension, the Rockets were awarded a penalty in the third quarter, which was expertly saved by Inez, who also managed to block the follow up shot. There was never a dull moment with end-to-end action and goals scored at both ends, including another from Ollie after some impressive fancy footwork, two more from Teddy and two from Harry.

The team put in a good defensive shift, putting some one-to-one marking in play and tackling some skilful and powerful Littleton players. Inez earned the award of Player of the Match, adding some more incredible saves to her penalty stop.

Romsey showed great teamwork, resilience and determination throughout and worked hard on keeping their shape across the whole pitch, which has been a focus at training.

Also in action were the under 9 Leopards who fought very hard against Bursledon Blizzards. There was some great teamwork shown in all areas across the pitch and they all had fun. Goal scorers were Dexter and Finley, who also made some fantastic saves when in goal. Player of the Match went to Arthur, who had a good strong game and even after coming off injured, found the courage to go back on for the final quarter.
