Chris Jordan put on a heroic score of 70*(32) to rescue Southern Braves innings after they were inserted at the Ageas Bowl.

Jordan brought the crowd to their feet as he scored his second career T20 50. The bowling allrounder smashed seven maximums and brought the hosts to a competitive score.

The England player was called to the crease with the side in trouble at 56-6 past the halfway stage.

The next top scorer was opener Finn Allen scoring just 21, as the steady flow of wickets restricted the brave to 147 - 8.

Tim David dropped a simple catch from the first ball of the reply as Welsh Fire pushed ahead of the rate.

The wickets of Luke Wells and Stevie Eskinazi for 24 and 31 respectively brought Brave back into the game.

A pair of boundaries in the last 10 balls for Ben Green pushed Fire ahead but a superb catch from David at long on to dismiss the batter swung the game back in favour of the hosts.

Sub fielder Joe Weatherley held his nerve taking a steepling catch off the final ball to secure the Brave’s first win of the season by just two runs.
