Bluebird Care Winchester, Eastleigh and Romsey have extended their support to a local school’s girls football team ahead of their new season – stepping in to provide new kits.

The leading local home care provider, who are rated ‘five-star outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, have sponsored the year five and six girls football teams at Oliver’s Battery Primary School in Winchester.

The support from Bluebird Care Winchester, Eastleigh and Romsey carries even more significance, with the team previously having no kits and having to make do with un-matching polo shirts and PE kits.

However, with the help of the home care provider, the girls will now take to the pitch in full kits that proudly adorn the school’s crest and squad numbers.

In the wake of the Lionesses’ triumph at the Euros earlier this year, the girls wanted to be more like their professional idols, and the local home care provider were keen to contribute to the continued growth of the women’s game.

Speaking about their support of the school’s girl’s football team, Norman Murphy, managing director of Bluebird Care Winchester, Eastleigh and Romsey said: “We care deeply about supporting our local community, so when we heard that the school had no kit, we were keen to help ensure their girls’ teams were kitted out. We are very proud to support the school team and help drive opportunities for young girls in our local community to get involved in football.”

Carly Redfern, headteacher, said: “The pupils and I are incredibly grateful for the very generous sponsorship Bluebird Care have provided. It is through generosity like this that girl’s football can continue to grow. The girls can’t wait to get out on the pitch in their smart new kits, so thank you Bluebird Care for your continued support in our community.”
