BRITAIN'S newest professional tour will visit Paultons Golf Club in June.

The Midas Tour, which begins life next month, has negotiated with Paultons for the centre to be included in its schedule during its inaugural season.

The two-day competition at Paultons will be held on June 4 and 5 and is the fifth tournament on the 17-event calendar.

The tour will also visit Sherfield Oaks Golf Club, near Basingstoke, in August.

Former European Tour winner Paul Eales has already signed up, as has Australia's Daniel Gaunt, who also played on the European Tour.

Paultons general manager Matt Rollinson said: "It's exciting for us to have an event like this being held here.

"Over the last few years we have done a lot of work on the course and the club as a whole, which has helped bring things like this in. It's a superb chance for the members and anyone else who is here on the day to come and watch and see some of the players that are trying to build their way up to the higher level tours."

Devon-based pro Paul Seymour set up the tour, which is designed to be a stepping stone for the next generation of top pros.

"The tour is what they call a developmental tour," said Seymour. "It's aimed primarily at the younger guys, the 19, 20 and 21-year-olds.

"We are looking at it as a breeding ground for future talent."
