CHRIS Wood is "delighted" to extend his stay at Hampshire and admits he is "excited about what we can achieve as a group next year".
Wood, 30, has penned a new white-ball contract extension with the club which will see him remain at Ageas Bowl until at least the end of 2021.
A Hampshire Academy product who developed through the club’s youth system as a youngster, Wood has made more than 250 appearances across all formats since his first-team debut in 2010.
The left-armer has been instrumental to Hampshire’s success in that time, particularly in white-ball cricket, having featured prominently in Hampshire’s inaugural T20 title win in 2010, double limited-over triumphs in 2012 and victorious 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.
Wood has claimed 243 wickets at an impressive average of 27.30 in his 210 limited-overs appearances, claiming 137 wickets in T20 matches, whilst totalling 106 scalps in List A contests.
The Basingstoke-born seamer is also the club’s all-time leading T20 wicket-taker, having overtaken former spinner Danny Briggs in 2019.
Wood said: “I’m delighted to sign a new extension at Hampshire, continuing my stay at my boyhood club.
"I’m excited about what we can achieve as a group next year, and hopefully I can continue to improve my game and contribute to future successes here as part of that.”
Giles White, Hampshire director of cricket, added: “Chris has been a standout performer for us for a long time now and we’re thrilled he’s signed a new extension.
"We obviously know Chris very well having been a key member of our white-ball sides over the last 10 years; skilful, streetwise and a great team man - he remains a huge asset for us as we look ahead to 2021.”
Wood announced his retirement from red-ball cricket in March in order to concentrate fully on a career as a limited-overs specialist.
