TWO HAMPSHIRE based, community football teams will soon be facing off in a charity game analysed by top ex-professionals.

Community football teams, DC United and Unity101 are set to battle it out during a free to enter charity match, after winning a competition put on by the University of Winchester School of Journalism and Hampshire FA, where they will be "treated like premier league stars".

The game will be filmed, there will be live commentary from a professional commentator, slow-motion replays, post-match interviews, and once the footage is edited it will be analysed by a panel of well-known football pundits and ex-pros, headed by sports broadcaster Angus Scott.

After winning a twitter poll, DC United were crowned winners, and chose Unity101 to be their opponents in a charity game raising money for CALM on March 1 at Stoneham Football Complex in Eastleigh.

Co-founder of DC United, Wendy Molyneux said: "We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Local Legends in our first season and more importantly to have a platform to promote positive men’s mental health and CALM, who we fundraise for.

"DCU FC are all so supportive of each other on and off the pitch and are incredibly excited about playing in a filmed game and having it analysed by the pro’s afterwards. A bit nervous about playing a Div 2 when we are a Div 5 side but we have been tearing it up this season so fingers crossed for a great game and no nutmegs or own goals on film!

"Would be great if all the grassroots footballers of Southampton could get behind our CALM fundraising effort!"

Both sides play in the City of Southampton Sunday Football League, with DC United playing their first season in Division 5 and Unity101 being an established side in Division 2.

Unity 101 FC manager, Naz Azram, said: "During the Local Legends competition process we have gotten to know the DC United team and all the great work they are doing. They are a brilliant team who are doing great work on and off the pitch and we couldn’t think of a more deserving team to win the competition.

"Everyone associated with Unity 101 FC is very excited about the upcoming event with DC United where we will be supporting a great cause and raising funds and awareness for charity. By both teams participating in this event it will be a fantastic opportunity for both teams to showcase the great work they are doing."

The game will kick off at 4.15pm on March 1 and while the panel of ex-professionals is currently unconfirmed, you can donate by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/dcunitedfc
