JOSE Mourinho has been sacked by Manchester United.
The club announced the move on Twitter this morning.
It comes after a poor run of results in the Premier League, which has left the club languishing in 6th - 18 points behind rivals Manchester City and 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
A statement on the club's Twitter page said: "Manchester United has announced that Jose Mourinho has left the club.
"We would like to thank him for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future. #MUFC."
United have had a poor December, winning just once.
As well as a 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, United drew against Arsenal and had to come back from two goals down against Saints to draw 2-2 this month.
That result, at St Mary's, was followed by the sacking of then Saints manager Mark Hughes.
