EASTLEIGH are up to 14th in the Vanarama National League after a second 1-0 home victory in the space of four days.

Mark Yeates’ well-deserved second goal of the season edged a tight battle against Boreham Wood at the Silverlake tonight.

Just as in Saturday’s win over Dagenham, the Spitfires – who lost Joey Jones to injury early on – were short of first-half chances.

But they gradually wound up the pressure after the break with Chris Zebroski hitting the post just seconds before Yeates struck the 80th- minute winner.

The 33-year-old Irishman cut in from the left and bent a superb, curling effort past Wood’s former Spitfires’ goalkeeper Ryan Huddart, who has been called up by England C.

At the other end there was a second clean sheet for on-loan Sunderland keeper Max Stryjek who excelled himself by acrobatically tipping round Mark Ricketts’ vicious 20-yard volley shortly before the interval.

Eastleigh are now four games unbeaten ahead of Saturday’s trek to Gateshead.

SHOLING bowed out of the FA Cup 3-0 in this evening's home replay against Slough Town.

But the scoreline doesn’t begin to reflect how tough the Sydenhams Wessex side made life for their three-leagues-higher opponents over the two games.

Having clawed back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 on Saturday, the Boatmen held the Rebels 0-0 after 90 minutes thanks to an outstanding first-half penalty save by Ryan Gosney from James Dobson.

Pete Castle had an effort hacked off the line and Dan Mason also went close for the Boatmen before they were sunk by goals from Lee Togwell, Dobson and Josh Jackman in extra time.

SALISBURY also went out in extra time at home to Weston-super-Mare.

Bay Downing snuffed out an own goal to make it 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Zak Kotwica gave Salisbury the edge in extra time but, following Tom Whelan’s dismissal for a second yellow card, Weston punished the ten men through Tom Llewellyn and George Nurse.

ALRESFORD Town will travel to Lymington Town in the Sydenhams League Cup third round after disposing of Newport IW 4-1.

Goals by Sam Doswell, Chris Mason and a Sam Burt double winged the Magpies through, with George Holmes replying for the Islanders.

Bashey were turfed out of the League Cup 2-1 by lower-league Alton.

Liam Knight's stoppage-time goal won it for the Brewers after Bashley's Cameron Beard had wiped out Steve Black's opener.

Ten-man Fareham Town had a night to forget, beaten 9-0 by Cowes Sports in the League Cup. John McKie's hat-trick was backed by Gareth Bricknell (2), Jimmy Wykes, Callum Chase, Jared Cousins and Conor Furmidge.

That wasn't the biggest score of the night, however.

That honour went to Christchurch who thrashed Westover Bournemouth 12-1 in the Bournemouth Senior Cup.

Scott Joyce hit seven and there were singles for Max Wilcock, Grant Cormack, Ben Satterley, James King and Harvey Wright.

Lymington Town beat Parley Sports 6-1 in the same competition with Sam House (2), Charlie Willett, Ash Jarvis, Elliott Cross and Ross Casey on target.

In Sydenhams One, goals by Alex Welch, Ben Clarke and Eduardo fired AFC Stoneham to a 3-2 win over Amesbury Town.
