The View Bar Southampton will be screening the Winter Olympics' inaugural Big Air final when Billy Morgan goes for gold in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Co-manager Lou Godwin will re-open the pub at 12am for supporters of Billy to watch on its big screen.

She said: "We kindly ask that anyone who would like to come along to hopefully share medal glory with Billy Morgan and Team GB contact us first as this is by invite only. You can message us on facebook or Call 023 8078 4603."

The final gets underway at 1am.

Mike Hurd, a former manager of the Sports Centre’s Alpine Centre, has helped organise the event.

He got to know Billy when the 28 year-old first started snowboarding 15 years ago, having honed his skills at Southampton Gymnastics Club and skateboarding on the streets of Shirley.

“To have a lad from Shirley as one of the world’s top 12 snowboarders is just amazing,” said Mike.

“Billy did exactly what he needed to do to qualify, he performed on the day and he needs to do that again.

“He’s an outside chance to medal and after getting to the final anything else is a bonus. It’s an extremely high standard, I was shocked that the other Brits didn’t get through after seeing their jumps.

“But Billy’s got a few other variations he could produce. Hopefully we'll have a good crowd watching at The View.”
