Hampshire League - Division 1 South.

Nomansland (244-7) beat Eastleigh and Ott II (135-9).

A cracking innings of 108 from Chris Garrett paved the way for an emphatic win for Nomansland in Division 1 South on Saturday.

The home side were invited to take first knock and started slowly against a lively opening attack with Chris Walton and Darren Grayer watchful on an understandably damp surface.

Walton (19) departed with the score on 52, and Ben Stanfield went in the next over to bring Garrett to the crease.

Although he had not actually touched a bat since May 12 due to holidays and the weather break, he looked in great touch and the scoring rate started to rocket.

With his skipper taking a watching brief at the other end Garrett was finding the ropes with increasing regularity.

Grayer eventually lost his wicket to his first rash shot for a valuable 52, but Garrett was now powering on to an inevitable century and was eventually out for a superb 108 that spanned only 19 overs and included seven sixes'.

Andy Reynolds (23) and Stewart Lee (20) then enjoyed a run-a-ball stand to take Nomansland on to an excellent tea score of 244 for 7. Pete Barty, with 2-45, returned the best figures of the visiting attack.

Eastleigh needed a good start to threaten the home side but a wicket in the second over set them back.

Jason Franks and Pete Loader bowled a super line and strangled the scoring rate and despite John Clarke (31) and L Baldwin (23) taking the score on to 49 before the next wicket fell, the required rate had soared from 5.8 at the start of the innings to an impossible 9 an over by the drinks break.

Number four bat Steve Paul worked hard but a middle order slump left the tail to wag with Barty (13), Le Brocq (11) and skipper Edwards (16 not out) assisting Paul (32 not out) in the quest for batting points.

Loader with 3 for 25 from his twelve overs was the pick, but Grayer (2-6) and a revitalised Stewart Lee with 3 for 20 backed him up well.
