The Romsey War Memorial Archive has put out a request for information and photographs of the men who are commemorated on the town’s war memorial.
The material is required for an exhibition entitled “Romsey in the Great War” to be jointly hosted by the Archive and Romsey Town Council at the Town Hall on October 17-18.
“We’re very keen to hear from anyone who has information on any of these men. Photographs are particularly valuable as these are what put a face to what is otherwise just a name” said Victoria Burbidge, founder member of the Romsey War Memorial Archive.
“These men were incredibly precious to their families and their passing would have left such a terrible void. The research which we undertake gives us a very emotional insight into the sacrifice made by our town as a whole and that’s the point of this exhibition.”
Anyone wishing to loan items should contact Victoria by phone on 01794 501755 or by email at Victoria.Burbidge@ntlworld.com.
