Racing driver David Purley gained no points in his intermittent Formula One career but is best known for winning the George Medal for his brave bid to save fellow driver Roger Williams from his flaming car during the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix.
Purley, who died in a plane crash in 1985 after quitting motor racing for aerobatics, also designed his own Formula 1 cars the LEC 1 and 2 and these will be on show at Awbridge Fete and Motor Fair on May 9 courtesy of Simon Turner and race car restorers WDK Motor Sport.
This is the first time the cars have been seen together in public.
Show organiser Peter Allen is still keen to hear from owners of interesting vehicles of any kind who would like to take part in the show. He can be contacted at allen609@btinternet. com.
