ON JANUARY 9 Easton WI will be discussing the history of the Watercress Line at 7.15pm at Easton Village Hall, and those wanting to become members are welcome to attend.

In December the group enjoyed a Christmas lunch at The Cricketers and their secret Santa raffle raised money for The Salvation Army.

This month members will also consider the resolutions that form the basis for WI campaigns, these include potential stem cell donor registration, female crash test dummies, ending modern slavery, time to talk about death and dying, and protection of helium.

Each institute will select one to go forward to the AGM in June.

THERE was some early festive spirit at Itchen Abbas Village Hall, courtesy of the parents and children of Itchen Abbas School.

The group provided copious amounts of mulled wine and mince pies, along with craft stalls, print your own T-shirt stall and a dress-up photobooth.

Youngsters also enjoyed a visit from Father Christmas.

Several of the pupils from the school showed their budding entrepreneurial skills by making and selling their own produce at the fair.
