Four people have been arrested in Dublin as part of an investigation into international terrorist financing.

They include a man in his forties and three women in their thirties, forties and sixties, Irish police said.

Documents, electronic equipment and 4,500 euros in cash were seized during six searches in the Irish capital.

The suspects were arrested for suspected terrorist financing contrary to Section 13 of the Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Act, 2005 and are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Dublin Garda stations.

The searches took place on Tuesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation by the Special Detective Unit, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau and security and intelligence units into international terrorist financing, the force confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing.
