CIVIC chiefs are asking volunteers to deliver a boost to Winchester's tourism industry.
They are recruiting Wintonians to greet new visitors and talk to them about their favourite parts of the city.
Winchester City Council says it is part of a move to capitalise on visitor numbers in the run-up to London 2012 Olympic Games.
Alison Woods, WCC project manager, said: "If you are passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about your city and enjoy meeting people, we'd like to hear from you.
"As well as making a difference to the experiences of our visitors, volunteering to be a 'greeter' could have a positive impact on your life too."
