CONTROVERSIAL infill development in a Meon Valley village has been approved by planners.

Mark Enfield applied to build seven three or four bedroom homes on the site of a bungalow to be demolished, called Edenwood, on Broad Lane, Swanmore.

The development will go on land partly to the rear of Gwenda and Nikendi.

A previous scheme was for ten dwellings.

It was unpopular with some neighbours with 25 objections from 23 households who said it was overdevelopment of a cramped site and out of scale with the area.

Swanmore Parish Council said their concerns had been addressed and it supported the scheme.

Members of the planning committee meeting at Winchester Guildhall supported the scheme by eight votes to one against.
