AN Arctic explorer paid a visit to Winchester schoolgirls this month to teach them about what it's like to experience one of the world's coldest climates.
Polar explorer Oli Milroy, who works for Education Through Expeditions, ran workshops with Year 4 pupils at St Swithun's Junior School as part of their Polar environments project.
Pupils got to dress up in explorer's kit and learn about the climate, wildlife and realities of survival in the Arctic.
The students then planned their own adventures to locations all around the world - and even the moon.
At 19 years old, Mr Milroy was the youngest member of last year's Arctic Jubilee Expedition, which celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee by hosting a tea party at the highest point of the Queen Elizabeth Islands in Arctic Canada.
He was honoured as a torch bearer at the London Olympics for his work in schools and charities.
The next goal for the Plymouth-born explorer is to become the youngest person to row the Atlantic.
