PUPILS at Owslebury Primary School have been getting back to nature with the building of a living willow dome in the school grounds.

The natural play structure, funded by the Friends of Owslebury Primary School, is made from living branches and makes for an environmentally-friendly outdoor setting for children to enjoy, whatever time of the year.

The whole school community came together to be part of the dome’s creation. For three days, willow dome designers Ganesh and Elaine Kings from Creative Willow set to work on the structure and held insightful willow workshops for a captive young audience who were able to make and take home handmade willow keepsakes.

Owslebury headteacher Wendy Smith was delighted to officially open the school’s new attraction. “It is a wonderful opportunity for the whole school to come together to create something that can be enjoyed for generations to come.

“The whole school is looking forward to seeing the willow dome grow and prosper along with the pupils that spend time in it,” she said.
