Andover Business Improvement District (BID) has stressed that it will ‘always be there’ for local businesses during ‘these times of uncertainty’.

Many businesses are being forced to closed, with the government last week ordering pubs, cafes, restaurants and more to shut their doors whilst urging people to minimise non-essential contact with others.

A statement from the BID read: “We are seeing businesses close their doors, some change opening hours and operating practices to continue to serve their customers and a reduced footfall as employees work from home where they are able, and people heed official advice to only make essential trips out.

“Keeping everyone safe and healthy, minimising the spread, while supporting Andover businesses is key.

“Andover Business Improvement District is here through these times of uncertainty to support businesses in Andover town centre. Our services are available to support businesses.”

The statement also noted that a statement is expected on Monday or Tuesday regarding support for the self-employed.

“The response and reaction to COVID-19 is changing daily as are the effects on Andover town centre,” the statement continued.

“The government is updating its information for businesses on a daily basis and it is widely anticipated that a statement will be made today or tomorrow about help to be made available for those who are self-employed.”

BID says it is a ‘nimble and reactive’ organisations established by and for the community it serves. It will be “looking ahead at contingencies for business impact in the coming months ahead” and says it will keep businesses informed as much as it can.

Businesses are able to contact the BID via info@andoverbid.org.uk or over the phone on 01264 930063.

The BID statement added: “We will adapt our working practices in line with official recommendations as and when required but will always be accessible."
