A FORMER pupil and successful entrepreneur has paid a visit to his old school.

Lord Wandsworth College (LWC), in Long Sutton, hosted Patrick Drake on Saturday to look at the establishment’s new dining area and give a talk to the students and staff.

As well as being a former LWC student, Patrick is the co-founder and head chef at popular recipe and fresh ingredients delivery service, HelloFresh.

He also has a YouTube channel for the company.

Patrick returned to LWC to cast his expert eye over the newly-opened £2million dining space and orangery which were completed earlier this year thanks to the work of Hampshire-based Amiri Construction, alongside LWC staff.

The ex-student met with LWC’s head chef, Roger Cole, and his team to discuss the choice of healthy menus on offer to the children at the school.

More than 150 parents, pupils and staff sampled a breakfast and were able to chat to Patrick about life after school and the passion that led him to the world of catering.

Patrick is keen to spread the word on the long-term benefits of healthy eating and was pleased to see the choice of food at his old school.

As the sun shone over the new building, Patrick entertained the assembled guests with humourous stories of his time as a pupil at LWC.

He also gave a speech which laid out the career path that led him to start up HelloFresh from an initial start-up while he was a student of law in his education days.

To finish the event, a presentation was made by LWC headmaster, Adam Williams.

He thanked the ex-student for supporting the event and to finish, there was a ceremonial ‘cutting of the cake’ to officially open the new dining hall building.

As a final trip down memory lane, Gill Kelly, the alumni relations manager, toured Patrick and his family around Summerfield, were he had been head of house in his final year.
