A FORMER Winchester Conservative city councillor has won the vacant seat on Alresford Town Council.
Annie Saunders polled 810 votes, edging out former town council chairman, Robin Atkins, who stood under the banner ‘Clean Up New Alresford Town Council’.
He got 774 votes, capitalising on the anger over plans for 320 homes on farmland off Sun Lane.
Third was local postman, Steve Deeming, with 584 votes. The by-election was caused by the
resignation of Natalie Carpenter.
