ST SWITHUN's Junior School returned from the Hampshire Schools' Biathlon Championships with an impressive medal haul.

Twenty girls, from Year 3 to Year 6, competed in the competition at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre on Saturday, September 22. All the girls ran 500 metres and swam 50 metres. Despite it being the first time many of them had swum in a 50-metre pool, they brought home eight medals.

In the Year 3 event St Swithun's excelled, claiming the first four places: Olivia Busher from Bishop's Waltham was first, Georgie Richards from Alresford grabbed silver, and Eleanor Holmes and Mia Clark from Winchester were third and fourth respectively. In the Year 4 event, Iona Morley from Chandler's Ford won both the run and swim, while Katie Baxter, from Romsey, and Annabel Yeatman, from Winchester, were joint-second.

The Year 5 event saw Anastasia Lawrence, from Winchester, finish first overall, with Evie Johnson of Winchester taking third place. In Year 6 Tallulah Jeffes, Lucy Herring and Alice Calder just missed out on medals but all recorded great personal best times.
