BISHOP’S Waltham Garden Fair headed to pastures new last weekend, being held for the first time in Durley.
Having outgrown its previous home, the Bishop’s Waltham palace grounds, organisers took the decision to move it for 2012.
With the kind permission of owners Jamie and Carolyn Balfour, it took place at Wintershill Hall.
The scenic estate just outside Bishop’s Waltham dates back to at least 1420. More recently, the Hampshire Ambulance and Fire Services used it as a base during both world wars before the Balfour family arrived.
The fair, which took place on Sunday (May 6), featured more than 60 stallholders ranging from rural crafts to hog roasts and ice cream sellers.
The show also featured displays of birds of prey and a performance by Cuff Billett's New Europa Jazz Band.
Around 2,500 people usually come to the annual event, which this year included the mayor of Winchester, Cllr Barry Lipscomb.
Proceeds are now being counted, and will be donated to St John Ambulance.
