Tonight (Thursday October 12) sees the launch of seven days of gigs organised by The Winchester Massive as part of Oxjam.

Oxjam is a worldwide event where bands and venues dedicate gigs to raise money for Oxfam.

It also coincides with the first birthday of The Winchester Massive, a website that is dedicated to the encouragement and support of Winchester based bands.

The week-long extravaganza will see 45 different acts performing in three different venues across the city.

Although most of the acts are local, emerging talent from Reading, London and New Zealand will feature too.

Die!Die!Die, an indie/punk trio from Aukland, New Zealand, who are currently on a worldwide tour, will be at The Railway on Wednesday October 18.

However, the cream of the crop of home-grown talent have not been forgotten.

Also taking part will be Sine Star Project, Loose Caboose and Dlugokecki to name but a few.

An all dayer will be held at The Railway on Saturday (October 14) starting at 2pm and will feature 16 acts throughout the day, including theatre from The River People.

The first half of the day is open to anyone over the age of 16 but it is over 18s only after that.

Visit www.winchestermassive.co.uk for more information about who is playing where.

There will also be a Valley FM podcast highlighting some of the Oxjam acts.
